- You can restore the file through the Carbonite Preference pane with the Restore tab.
- You may want to restore individual files if you accidentally deleted items from your computer and need to restore them.

If you have not yet installed Carbonite on your computer we recommend that you install it now.

Click the Apple symbol in the menu bar and select System Preferences to open the System Preferences window. |

Within the System Preferences window click on the Carbonite icon. |
You will see the Carbonite Preference pane displayed.

Within the Carbonite Preference pane click on the drop-down box for the Backup Is: field and select in Recover Mode. |

Click Proceed to put Carbonite in Recover Mode. |
While in Recover Mode your backup is frozen in place and you are given time to restore your files.

Click the Restore button in the Carbonite Preference pane.
You will see the Restore page displayed. Here you can restore individual files or open the Restore Assistant. |
